With so many small communities in the Wheatbelt, sport and recreation plays a vital role.

Sport plays a major part in the lives of people in the Wheatbelt, with many talented athletes having emerged and continuing to emerge. It is seen as one of the most important ways for keeping communities together.

Continuing recreation and regional planning is providing important direction and focus for the future delivery of sport and recreation infrastructure/services in the region.

Wheatbelt Sportshouse

Within the Wheatbelt Sportshouse there is are development officers for cricket and Australian Rules Football. These officers play an important role in developing and growing the sport within the region and work in close partnership with the department.
